Personal Assistant on New Media to the President, Bashir Ahmad has responded to remarks from a fellow All Progressives Congress’ member who said he is “grossly unqualified” for a position at the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

Over the weekend, Ahmad was rumoured to have been being secretly appointed as a manager in a unit under the DPR by the President, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (retd) by an online

In reaction to the unconfirmed report by the APC member identified as Gbenga Olorunpomi said that the decision by the president was “rubbish” because he knows that “Ahmad was grossly unqualified for this job.”

Olorunpomi who is affiliated with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi’s cabinet said “Until the Presidency come out to publicly deny this, I will assume it is 100% true. And, I am completely and utterly ashamed that, again, this administration is showing the country and the party complete disrespect. The Bashir I know is grossly unqualified for this job. Rubbish!”

“No wahala sha. Lemme face my party registration drive squarely. We go jam for convention ground. Keep making a monkey of the platform that gave you power,” he said in another tweet.

Responding to the first tweet in the comment section, Ahmad was stunned by the statement of his party member, he said, “Surprised, I would have called Gbenga to confirm first.”

Buhari’s aide further dispelled the rumour in another response to Olorunpomi in a rather more subtle way by saying, “Calm down brother Gbenga, the story is 100% NOT true. To tell you the truth, I don’t even know where DPR office is, the only thing I know it is in Lagos. That’s all.”
