Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new head coach on a contract running until 2027.

The Premier League club announced the 54-year-old’s appointment on Tuesday, days after sacking Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed following just 40 days in charge at the City Ground.

Dyche, who previously managed Burnley and Everton, returns to the club where he once played as a trainee under the legendary Brian Clough. His appointment makes him Forest’s third manager this season.

“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter,” the club said in a statement.

Dyche’s first game in charge will be the Europa League clash against Porto on Thursday.

Postecoglou was sacked shortly after Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, leaving him as the shortest-serving permanent manager in Premier League history.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis decided to part ways with the Australian after the team failed to win any of their first eight matches.

Postecoglou had been appointed to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who left the club in September after falling out with the management.

Forest are currently in the relegation zone with only five points from eight league games, despite spending over £100 million on new signings during the last transfer window.
