Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah have warned that Iranian attacks targeting Gulf countries pose a serious threat to both regional and global security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
During a phone conversation, the two leaders denounced the attacks, describing them as violations of the sovereignty and security of nations in the Gulf region.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the crown princes also underscored the importance of stronger coordination among members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to safeguard stability and security across the region.
The discussion comes amid a rise in Iranian attacks against several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, following the outbreak of fighting last Saturday between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other.
Meanwhile, the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers strongly condemned what it described as Iran’s “blatant aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty and airspace of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait”.
In a statement posted on its official website on Thursday, the Secretariat said the unjustified attacks represent a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The statement emphasized the council’s categorical rejection of Iranian actions that could undermine security and stability in the region and derail efforts aimed at de-escalation and peace, noting that Arab countries had been at the forefront of initiatives seeking to achieve stability.
The Secretariat reiterated its unwavering and complete solidarity with the affected Arab states, backing all measures and steps taken by these countries to preserve their sovereignty, security and stability.
The statement also commended the brave response by the defense forces of these countries in repelling the attacks and taking the necessary measures to secure the safety of their citizens and the protection of vital facilities.
It further expressed appreciation for the high level of competence and professionalism demonstrated by the security forces of those countries in confronting security threats.
