The founder of the One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has asserted that he is capable of securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, stating certain conditions to be met.
He, however, insisted that such an intervention would only be possible if IPOB ends its sit-at-home orders and discontinues the operation of its Biafra radio platform.
Maharaj Ji made the remarks during a Wednesday interview on his temple’s in-house radio, where he discussed the circumstances surrounding Kanu’s detention and the legal implications of the charges he faces.
According to him, Kanu must bear responsibility for the terrorism allegations levelled against him, noting that the offences, as defined by law, carry the death penalty.
He said, “We are, however, grateful that the matter has been put on hold in the sense that, by the accusations, it is always going to be death, looking at the level of crimes attached to him, with the way and manner the constitution is written. Anybody who is accused of doing such a thing (terrorism) is sentenced to death. It is only out of grace that Kanu was able to escape.”
