Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warmly welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Lagos on Sunday as they concluded their three-day visit to Nigeria. The royal couple arrived in Lagos after attending various events in Abuja and Kaduna.
Addressing the press at the State House in Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Prince Harry and Meghan for their work with Nigeria’s military personnel, particularly in the area of mental health. He expressed gratitude for their efforts in supporting wounded soldiers.
Prince Harry, known for founding the Invictus Games for wounded veterans, continues his mission to promote the event.
In Lagos, the couple participated in the Dream Big Basketball clinic organized by the Giant of Africa Foundation at Ilupeju Grammar School. Masai Ujiri, President of the foundation, commended them for inspiring African youth through sports.
During their stay, Prince Harry’s team competed in an exhibition match against a team led by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff. Despite their spirited effort, Prince Harry’s team faced defeat.
Later, the royal couple attended a reception for military families, where traditional dancers showcased their talents with acrobatic performances.
Expressing their enthusiasm for engaging in programs aimed at empowering African youth, Prince Harry and Meghan emphasized the importance of such initiatives.
