Sanwo-Olu uploads list of policemen charged with cases of human rights violation

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has released a list of policemen facing various charges of human rights violation against Lagosians.

This comes after young citizens took to the streets to stage protests against police brutality across the state and other cities in the country.

Although the protests led to unrest which attracted a three-day curfew which might be eased from Friday, Oct 23, the state governor said the prosecution of these officers is a step to show their commitment to ending to police brutality in the state.

“Today seems like a good day to get on to the work of rebuilding Lagos and ending police brutality. To show our commitment to the latter, here is a list of ongoing prosecution of police officers for offences related to the violation of human rights in Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu said on his Twitter account.

He went further to upload names of officers undergoing trial ranging from a list of offences such as, manslaughter, murder, and armed robbery.
