Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday received Haitian-American musician Wyclef Jean and Miss Earth 2024 Jessica Lane during a courtesy visit to the Lagos House, Marina.

Also at the meeting was Miss Earth Water 2024, Bea Millan-Windorski. Both beauty queens are in Lagos for the E1 Championship Fashion Showcase and Experience.

Governor Sanwo-Olu shared details of the visit on his official X account, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen Lagos’ image as a global hub for culture, creativity, and environmental sustainability.

He said, “It was a pleasure to receive singer and songwriter Wyclef Jean, Miss Earth, and Miss Earth-Water on a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Marina. Our discussions highlighted Lagos as not only a hub of culture and creativity, but also a welcoming destination that embraces global efforts toward a cleaner, greener future. We’re proud to showcase the warmth, energy, and hospitality that make Lagos truly unique.”

The governor added that the visit aligns with Lagos’ commitment to environmental protection and partnerships that promote sustainability.

Wyclef Jean, known for his work with the Fugees and hit songs like “Gone Till November,” has been involved in various global charity projects, while the Miss Earth pageant focuses on environmental awareness and advocacy.

Lagos recently became the first African city to host the E1 electric powerboat championship, joining other global cities like Monaco, London, Jeddah, and Venice.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Sanwo-Olu said, “For us in Lagos, the E1 Lagos GP, the first to be held in Africa, is a befitting accolade to a sports-loving people and a government that knows the place of sports in human development. E1 Lagos GP is more than a race; it is a celebration of Lagos’ dynamism and a vivid testimony of our growing influence and energy.”
