Samsung Wallet has maintained its dominance in South Korea’s mobile payment sector, continuing to rank as the most widely used app in May with over 19 million monthly active users, while competing platforms recorded their highest-ever user figures amid rising competition in the digital payments industry.
Data from market research firm Wiseapp Retail Goods showed that Samsung Wallet reached 19.04 million monthly active users in May, keeping a significant lead over its closest rivals.
Kakao Pay followed in second place with 11.87 million users.
It was trailed by KB Pay with 10.37 million users and Shinhan SOL Pay, which recorded 8.19 million users.
Industry platforms including Kakao Pay, KB Pay, Naver Pay and NH Pay all achieved their highest monthly user counts since launch, signaling a continued surge in consumer adoption of mobile payment services across South Korea.
