Salawa Abeni gushes over new set of twins

Veteran Nigerian musician, Salawa Abeni Alidu better known as Queen Salawa Abeni has declared to fans that she is the ‘latest Grandma in town.’

Abeni’s son just welcomed a set of twins.

The proud grandma took to her social media handles to share the good news with fans, posted photos of the twins with the caption, ‘Help me rejoice my people. God has blessed me again.

“I’m very grateful to you Almighty Allah… Latest Grandma in Town.”

The 56-year-old began her professional career in waka music when she released her debut album titled, Late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, in 1976, on Leader Records. It became the first recording by a female artist in Yoruba Songs to sell over a million copies in Nigeria.

She married popular Fuji musician Ayinla Kollington and the union is blessed with a son.

She was crowned “Queen of Waka Music” by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi in 1992.
