Salah joins Trabzonspor on a two-year contract after bringing his successful nine-year career at Liverpool to an end.

According to Reuters, the Turkish club announced the signing on Thursday after the Egyptian forward completed his medical examination and arrived in Trabzon to a warm reception from supporters.

The 34-year-old joined the Turkish Super Lig side on a free transfer following his departure from Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Trabzonspor disclosed that Salah will receive €17 million per season during his two-year stay at the club.

The agreement also gives him a 20 per cent share of revenue from merchandise sold under his name. He will receive additional bonuses if he meets certain conditions during each season.

The club did not reveal the value of the bonuses or the performance targets attached to them.

Salah joins Trabzonspor after emotional Liverpool exit

Salah arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday wearing Trabzonspor’s burgundy and blue colours before undergoing his medical checks.

Hundreds of supporters welcomed him at Atatürk Airport as he waved to the crowd and joined them in a traditional club chant.

Trabzonspor later organised a special ceremony at their stadium to officially present the forward to their supporters.

The signing represents one of the biggest transfers in the history of Turkish football and gives Trabzonspor one of the most accomplished forwards of his generation.

Salah had attracted interest from several clubs after confirming that he would leave Liverpool. However, he chose to remain in European football by accepting Trabzonspor’s offer.

Nine successful years at Liverpool

The Egypt international left Liverpool after scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances across all competitions.

He joined the Premier League club from Roma in 2017 and quickly established himself as a central figure in the team’s success.

Salah helped Liverpool win the Champions League, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

He also won several individual honours during his time in England, including multiple Premier League Golden Boots.

His consistency and goalscoring record placed him among Liverpool’s greatest players and made him one of the most successful African footballers in Premier League history.

The forward received an emotional farewell at Anfield after playing his final game for the club in May.

Trabzonspor target domestic and European success

Trabzonspor will hope Salah’s arrival strengthens their challenge against Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas for the Turkish league title.

The Black Sea club finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season and qualified for the Europa League playoff round.

They last won the domestic league during the 2021/22 season and will aim to return to the top under their current sporting project.

Salah brings extensive European experience, having previously represented Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina, Roma and Liverpool.

He began his European career with Swiss side Basel in 2012 before joining Chelsea two years later.

Loan spells at Fiorentina and Roma helped revive his career before his permanent move to the Italian capital. His performances there eventually convinced Liverpool to sign him.

The Trabzonspor move begins a new chapter for Salah, who will now seek to help the Turkish club compete for domestic trophies and make an impact in European competition.
