Sadio Mane wins Premier League PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award

Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane has won the Premier League PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award for the 2019/20 season, beating Kevin De Bruyne to the award.

The Senegal international scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in the top flight last season to help the Reds clinch their Premier League title with a club-record 99 points.

In a poll of football fans across the country, Mane took 41 per cent of the vote to see off competition from Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (27 per cent) and teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold (17 per cent).

Mané joined Liverpool for a transfer fee of £34 million on a five-year contract in June 2016. The transfer fee made him the most expensive African player in history at the time.

Kevin De Bruyne was yesterday named the Best Player in the English Premier League for the 2019/2020 season.

The 29-year-old Manchester City player, claimed the award ahead of Liverpool trio Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane as well Nick Pope, Jamie Vardy of Arsenal as announced on The Premier League Official Twitter Page.

De Bruyne ended this year’s league campaign, with 13 goals and 20 assists.
