Ryan Giggs throws ex-girlfriend out of hotel room ’naked’
Embattled Wales manager, Ryan Giggs, has been accused of throwing his ex-girlfriend out of his hotel room naked shortly after he kicked her in the back, a court has been told.
The former Manchester United winger was further indicted of a pattern of controlling and coercive behaviour against Kate Greville, 36, between August 2017 and November 2020.
Appearing before a Manchester crown court on Friday, Giggs pleaded not guilty to the offence, according to UK Metro.
He also denied a second count that he assaulted Greville and caused her actual bodily harm at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, on 1 November last year.
In addition, Giggs who co-owns Salford City pleaded not guilty to the common assault by beating Kate’s youngster sister, Emma Greville, in the same alleged incident.
UK Guardian reports that Giggs, the co-owner of Salford football club, is also accused of regularly turning up unannounced and uninvited at his ex-partner’s home, workplace and gym after she tried to break off the relationship.
Details of his alleged controlling and coercive behaviour were read out in court, accusing Giggs of:
– Threatening to send e-mails to her friends and her employers about their sexual relationship.
– Throwing her belongings out of his house when she questioned him about relationships with other women.
– Kicking her in the back, and then throwing her out of their Stafford Hotel bedroom in London naked, followed by throwing her bag at her when she accused him of flirting with other women.
– Sending constant unwanted messages and making constant unwanted calls to her and her friends when she tried to break off the relationship.
– After she had tried to break off the relationship, regularly turning up unannounced and uninvited at her home, workplace and gym.
Shortly after he was charged with the offences, Giggs issued a statement in which he denied all the allegations and said he would ‘look forward to clearing my name’.
In a hearing lasting less than an hour, the court also heard the former couple were involved in a separate civil dispute over ownership of a pet.
Giggs is expected go on trial in the criminal proceedings at Manchester Crown Court on January 24.
