Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has criticised the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, over his appeal to President Bola Tinubu to prevent the release of documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, concerning allegations linked to a drug trafficking case.
Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday, Rufai questioned the responsibility and ethical position of a religious leader who encourages individuals to conceal aspects of their past, particularly when such matters have implications for the country.
He also raised concerns about the possible consequences of the President’s past legal controversies for Nigeria’s international image, noting that such issues could expose the country to disparaging remarks.
“Which kind of shepherd tells people to hide their past when it concerns a nation?
“So God should do everything to watch a case where integrity has to come? Is that what a shepherd is?
“With what Primate Ayodele has said in the past, can you make him shepherd over your life? Can you make him speak words into your life,” Rufai asked.
