We Don’t Feel Safe, RSU students protest rapes, robberies

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Students at Rivers State University protested on Thursday after multiple female students reported being raped and robbed in their dormitories the previous night.
During the protest, students gathered outside the university administration building, some holding signs reading “RSU insecurity 5&6”, “We don’t feel safe.”, “They robbed us in our rooms,” amongst others
According to student accounts, a group of unknown men entered the female dormitories late Wednesday night and robbed several rooms at knifepoint. Some students claimed the men sexually assaulted multiple women during the attacks.
Recounting her ordeal during the robbery, an X (formerly Twitter) handler @_littledeejay wrote “Omo God is good ooo last night my hostel was robbed,like this boys actually broke the wall to our laundry room and started beating and raping girls,they robbed almost everyone’s room in my floor but by the grace of God they didn’t enter my room wetin I for talk.”
