WuzupNigeria reports that in late 2018, Rauf Oladejo, a Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria [FRCN] worker, jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon. The deceased, a driver with the radio station, had parked his car on the busy road before diving headfirst into the Lagoon.
His wife, Zainab, described him as a peace-loving husband and father.
In February 2019, a suspected thief, who cannot swim, escaped death by a whisker after he snatched her phone on Third Mainland Bridge and jumped into the Lagos Lagoon.
Abeke Mabawonku, who shared a video of the incident on Facebook, the incident happened in the afternoon on Friday, 15 February 2016.
The thief was alleged to have snatched the phone from one of the commuters who was stuck in the traffic jam.
