Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the new head coach of the men’s team.
The Premier League side announced the decision on Tuesday, officially ending speculation over who would replace Enzo Maresca.
In a statement on the club’s website, Chelsea said, “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach of the men’s team. The club extends a warm welcome to Rosenior and looks forward to his leadership on and off the pitch. Welcome to Chelsea, Liam!”
Rosenior joins the London club after a spell with French Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, where he guided the team to European qualification for the first time in 19 years during his debut season.
The 41-year-old had earlier worked in England with Hull City and Derby County and is regarded as a coach with a strong focus on youth development and tactical discipline.
Reacting to his appointment, Rosenior said he was honoured to take up the role at Stamford Bridge.
“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies,” he said.
“My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies.”
Rosenior, who has signed a contract running until 2032, assured fans of his commitment to success at the club.
“I believe deeply in teamwork, unity, togetherness and working for one another, and those values will be at the heart of everything we do,” he said.
“I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every single game that we play. They are the soul of this huge football club. I cannot wait to get started.”
Chelsea added that the new coach has shown the ability to build teams with a clear playing identity while maintaining high standards, stressing that the club’s ambition to compete at the top level remains unchanged.
