Portuguese football star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has sparked fresh rumours about his future with Saudi club Al Nassr after posting a short but powerful message on social media.

“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” Ronaldo wrote on X (formerly Twitter) late Monday, May 26.

The message has left fans wondering if the 39-year-old forward is set to leave Al Nassr, as his contract is expected to end this summer.

Ronaldo’s post came shortly after Al Nassr’s painful 3-2 loss to Al Fateh in a Saudi Pro League match that ended their hopes of qualifying for the AFC Champions League.

In the game, Ronaldo scored his 25th league goal of the season, bringing his total to 99 goals for the club. But despite his efforts, Al Nassr’s defence struggled, and Al Fateh took advantage to secure the win.

To make matters worse, Al Hilal’s victory over Al Qadsiah on the same day sealed Al Nassr’s fate, officially ruling them out of the top continental tournament next season.

Now, their only chance of playing in any AFC competition depends on whether Al Ittihad wins the King Cup. If that happens, Al Nassr might qualify for the second-tier AFC tournament.

The defeat was a major disappointment for Ronaldo and his teammates, who had worked hard all season. His social media post has only added more questions about what he plans to do next.

Ronaldo is one of the most successful footballers in history, having played for top clubs like Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus before joining Al Nassr. He also holds several records, including scoring over 900 career goals and playing more than 1,200 professional matches.

While Ronaldo has shared similar messages in the past during career changes, this latest one suggests another move could be coming soon.

There are speculations about a possible return to Europe, a switch to another club, or even a role in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. But as of now, neither Ronaldo nor Al Nassr has released an official statement.

What’s clear is that the football world is watching closely. As Ronaldo himself said, “The story? Still being written.”
