Manchester United icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, has described the calls for the sack of manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as “normal.”

United were humiliated 5-0 by a ruthless Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, increasing the heat on the Norwegian manager.

The defeat leaves United eight points adrift league leaders, Chelsea, raising concerns that the club will go trophyless again the season despite the potentials under Solskjaer who has already crashed out in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Ronaldo advised Solskjaer and his teammates that they “have to [take responsibility]. To play for Manchester United and to be a coach of Manchester United you will always be criticised, and you have to accept that it’s part of the business to criticise you.

“You play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, all eyes are on you and it is normal. You have to deal with it.

“The coaches, the players, when we lose we are in the same boat, when we win it is the same.

The 36-year-old added on Instagram: “Sometimes the result is not the one we fight for.

“Sometimes the score is not the one we want. And this is on us, only on us, because there’s no one else to blame.

“Our fans were, once again, amazing in their constant support. They deserve better than this, much better, and it’s up to us to deliver. The time is now!”
