Roadside bomb kills police officer, two others injured

A police officer was killed and two others, including a policewoman, were wounded on Wednesday after a roadside bomb hit a police vehicle in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, the police confirmed.

Kabul police spokesman, Ferdaus Faramarz, told reporters that the blast occurred at around 6:55 a.m. local time.

He explained that the explosion occurred when an improvised bomb placed on a road near a police station was detonated, hitting the Ranger-type police vehicle in Police District 12.

The blast was the latest in a string of bomb explosions against government vehicles and offices in the capital city with a population of nearly 5 million.

The vehicle was severely damaged by the explosion.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

On Tuesday, a civilian and four employees of the country’s main prison, including two female doctors, were killed and two civilians were wounded in an improvised bomb explosion in Kabul.

On the same day, an army colonel and teacher of the Kabul military university was shot and killed by gunmen in Police District 12.
