The Rivers State Police Command has declared Gabriel ‘General’ Asabuja, a former Niger Delta militant leader, wanted.

This decision comes after Asabuja made provocative statements in a viral video amidst the ongoing crisis in the state.

Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olatunji Disu, disclosed this on Tuesday night during an appearance on Channel Television’s ‘Politics Today’. Disu, condemning Asabuja’s actions, emphasized the panic and concern generated by his threats in the state and beyond.

Disu assured the public that law enforcement agencies have initiated actions to apprehend the former militant leader, stressing the seriousness with which such threats were being handled. He reiterated that Asabuja’s defiance in response to previous police invitations will not deter efforts to bring him to justice.

In related news, the Rivers State government has identified the prime suspect in the explosion that occurred during a protest in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, which claimed one life.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Port Harcourt on Tuesday night.

Oreh stated that the suspect was brought in by a few individuals who presented him as an accident victim at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the hospital. Upon examination, doctors discovered that his injuries resembled those from a blast and alerted the authorities.

Oreh said, “The Commissioner of Police has been alerted and investigations have begun. The suspect was brought in unconscious, but he has been stabilized and is recovering in the ICU. The place has been secured by the police and proper investigation will be carried out.”

Most of the people who brought the blast suspect disappeared, leaving only one person with him. The police have secured the area, and investigations are ongoing.
