Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State conducted the swearing-in ceremony of nine re-nominated commissioners on Friday.
Eight of them were part of the previous cabinet led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who resigned during the political crisis in the state last year.
The ceremony took place at the state Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt. All nine commissioners simultaneously took the oaths, starting with the oath of allegiance followed by the oath of office.
Gift Worlu, one of the commissioners, was not part of Wike’s administration but hails from the same local government area, Obio/Akpor, as the FCT Minister.
Congratulating the re-sworn commissioners, Governor Fubara encouraged them to prioritize the welfare of the state.
He stated, “I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the fed republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing. I can see how heavy your hearts are. I don’t blame you. You were caught between the crossfire.”
