Rivers Assembly rescreens, approves resigned commissioners
All nine former commissioners who resigned from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet amid the political crisis in Rivers State have been successfully rescreened and cleared by the State House of Assembly.
Recall that In November of the previous year, the commissioners tendered their resignation letters during the ongoing political discord between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Recently, Governor Fubara resubmitted the names of the nine nominees to the State House of Assembly for reconsideration.
In a plenary session on Wednesday, the former commissioners were granted the privilege of taking ‘a bow and leaving’ the chamber after successfully passing through the reapproval process.
