The All Progressives Congress has restated that Chief Tony Okocha remains the legitimate Chairman of the party in Rivers State, dismissing recent claims suggesting a change in leadership as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC addressed reports alleging that Mr. Emeka Beke had assumed the position of state chairman, describing such assertions as baseless.

“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to media reports of a claim by Mr Emeka Beke to the chairmanship of the Rivers State chapter of our party,” the statement read in part.

Morka noted that Beke had presented himself as the chairman of a faction within the Rivers State APC.

He, however, urged the public and media outlets to disregard any such claims, reiterating the party’s official position on the matter.

“We wish to clarify, for the record, that Chief Tony Okocha is and remains the chairman of the Rivers State chapter of our party. We urge our teeming members in the state, and the general public, to disregard the said reports or reference to Mr Emeka Beke as State Chairman of Rivers APC as false and misleading,” Morka stated.
