France Football have compiled a list of 50 greatest club managers of all time and Rinus Michels, former AFC Ajax manager has been named as the greatest ever.
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is on the second spot, followed by former Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi, Johan Cruyff and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard is the only active manager in the top 5 of the list.
Sir Ferguson managed 1,500 games for Manchester United winning 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, five League Cups and two Champions League crowns.
But it wasn’t enough to top the list of esteemed coaches – with legendary Dutchman Rinus Michels named as the best ever.
Michels was credited with the invention of “total football” in the 1970s and was named coach of the century by FIFA in 1999.
He played his whole career with Ajax and went on to lead them to five league titles and a European Cup as manager.
Former United and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is on the 13th spot while Zinedine Zidane has been given the 22nd position. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is down on the 27th spot and is followed closely by Arsenal great Arsene Wenger, who’s surprisingly been named as the 32nd best club manager of all time.
