R&B singer Chris Brown recently took to his Instagram Story to express his frustration with the NBA for allegedly retracting an invitation for him to play in the All-Star Celebrity Game.
Brown claims the withdrawal was due to concerns from sponsors, specifically mentioning RUFFLES potato chips.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Brown wrote, “I was asked by the NBA to play in the [celebrity] all-star game this year! Only for them to call later and say they couldn’t do it because of their sponsors like RUFFLES.”
He further voiced his discontent, stating, “At this point, I’m sick of people bothering me, and I’m tired of living in the past. I POSTED THE EMAILS SO Y’ALL COULD SEE. The NBA still was tryna get me to come and sit court side…NOT F**KING HAPPENING.”
Accompanying his post was a screenshot of an email from an NBA representative inviting him to sit court side at the celebrity game.
Brown also claimed that, even after rescinding the playing invitation, the NBA continued to request his presence courtside.
“I ONLY GO WHERE I’M APPRECIATED,” Brown concluded in his message, emphasizing his frustration with the situation.
However, while Brown shared the initial invitation from the NBA, he did not provide evidence of the league uninviting him.
This incident comes shortly after reports that Usher did not consider Chris Brown for a cameo at his Super Bowl halftime show.
In response, Usher stated, “No, I did not reach out to Chris Brown. I’m not gon’ tell you everybody I reached out to. I reached out to some hitters. I was curating what would be one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time.”
Chris Brown’s past, specifically the domestic violence incident with Rihanna in 2009, continues to haunt him.
The incident led to the tarnishing of his image, loss of endorsement deals, and a period of distancing from the music industry.
