The residents of Enenurhie and Enhwe communities in Delta State are appealing to the state government to promptly address the issue of the collapsed Enenurhie-Enhwe bridge which serves as a connection to Ughelli, Bayelsa, and Port-Harcourt in Rivers State.
According to the DAILY POST, the condition of the road has become impassable leading to many calls for its repair by the members of the community.
The President-General of Enenurhie Community, Peter Manson, the President-General of Enenurhie Community, expressed that the damage to the bridge was too extensive for the community to handle on its own.
He called upon Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to come to their aid and assist in repairing the bridge.
A concerned motorist, Keno Omofezi, who was traveling from Igbide to Oleh, lamented the sorry state of the bridge.
He said, “It is indeed painful to think about the situation we found ourselves in. As you can see, the damage is huge, colossal, and terrible. We kindly call on our governor to come and help us out of the ditch we suddenly found ourselves in.”
Omofezi emphasized the importance of the bridge, which connects Isoko communities to the well-known East-West Road. “So, we cannot afford to stay without it,” he stressed.
Another passerby, Anthony Okpiyalele, proposed that the state government should first repair the damaged bridge and then work on a long-term plan to construct a new, longer bridge as a lasting solution to the problem.
