The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works over an abandoned road project in Kaduna State, valued at ₦1.4 billion.

The Permanent Secretary has been given five days to appear before the committee.

PAC Chairman, Rep. Bamidele Salam, announced this decision after the Permanent Secretary failed to respond to two previous invitations sent on August 5 and October 11, 2024.

Salam stressed that the committee needs answers about why a road construction contract awarded to Jam-Jam Dynamic Platform Ltd. on October 5, 2022, for the Gidanwanya-Guaran, Dutse-Waman, Ravi-Saminaka-Kano Road, received full payment but has not been completed.

Salam said, “Public Accounts Committee has issued a five-day ultimatum to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works to show cause why a warrant of arrest should not be issued against him.”

The committee also expressed frustration with the Permanent Secretary’s lack of response, adding that it will no longer tolerate such behavior.

Rep. Dauda Nyampa moved the motion, which was amended by Rep. Ari Mohammed and supported unanimously by committee members.

If the Permanent Secretary does not respond by October 29, 2024, the committee will take legal action to ensure accountability.
