Renowned evangelist Uma Ukpai passes away at 80

Renowned international evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, has reportedly passed away in Lagos at the age of 80.

The report of his passing was shared via the church-focused social media platform Therealchurchgist on Instagram.

However, as of the time of this report, no official statement has been released by the Ukpai family to confirm or refute the news.

The platform wrote: “Evangelist Dr. Uma Ukpai goes to be with the Lord. He passed on to glory in Lagos at the age of 80. He was a beacon of light and a source of inspiration to many.

“He was among the Founding Fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and the Founder of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association.

“Rest in Eternal Glory God’s Elect! More details shortly…”

Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was widely respected both in Nigeria and internationally for his evangelical work, particularly through dynamic crusades and a healing ministry that spanned decades.

In addition to his preaching, Rev. Ukpai founded several faith-based institutions, including the Uma Ukpai School of Theology, Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, and the King of Kings Specialist Hospital. His commitment to evangelism was matched by his passion for humanitarian service, often leading medical and outreach missions that served communities in need.

He is survived by his wife, Philomena Ukpai, and their children.
