A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has reacted after the presidency on Monday questioned the presence of the 43 slain rice farmers at the farm.

This came after Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, revealed that the rice farmers were not cleared by the military to be on the farm.

Speaking during an interview with the BBC, Shehu stated that the 43 farmers that were killed by Boko Haram on Saturday did not have military clearance to be on the rice farms when the attack happened.

Commenting further, Shehu, after claiming that he did not blame the slain, added that “the truth has to be said. Was there any clearance by the military which is in total control of those areas? Did anybody ask to resume activity?”

In reaction to the comments of Shehu, Omokri on social media questioned the government’s claim that terrorists have no control over any Nigerian territory.

“And this is the same government that said no inch of Nigerian terrorist is held by Boko Haram. Now they are saying that areas is Boko Haram zone,” he said.

The rights activist suggested that the lies being told by the government would eventually be overtaken by the truth, no matter the distance and speed at which it has travelled.

“No matter how far and fast falsehood travels, it must eventually be overtaken by truth,” he added.

In a previous reaction to the gruesome slaughter of the 43 rice farmers which reports from the United Nations revealed that about 110 villagers were killed, Omokri suggested that it’s high time the northerners fought against the bad governance of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
