Afrobeat sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, is set to make history as the headline act for Japan’s first-ever Afrobeats festival, Afro Jam, in 2025.
This was announced on wednesday by music platform 49th Street shared the news via an X post, stating, “Rema is set to headline the FIRST EVER Afrobeats Festival, Afro Jam, in Japan next year.”
The three-day event will take place at the 10,000-capacity Okinawa Arena from July 18 to 20, featuring Rema alongside international stars Jason Derulo and Shenseea. More artists will be announced in the coming months.
Afro Jam marks Japan’s first step into the Afrobeats scene, showcasing the genre’s growing global influence.
Rema, known for hits like Calm Down and Dumebi, is no stranger to international success.
He is also scheduled to perform at the world-famous Coachella festival earlier in 2025, joining other African stars like Seun Kuti.
