Regina Daniels takes drug test, addresses rumours

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has addressed long-running drug addiction rumours after undergoing a voluntary drug test abroad.

Daniels shared a video on Wednesday, January 7, showing the test process and what appeared to be her results, months after allegations surfaced online linking her to substance abuse.

In the video, a female hospital official was heard reassuring her that there was no cause for concern.

Explaining her decision, the actress said the test was not only to clear her name but also to protect how her children would see her in the future.

“Taking this test isn’t just about clearing my name, it’s about giving my children something priceless. So that when they’re old enough, they’ll know their mother was never a drug addict,” she said.

Daniels said the rumours deeply affected her, especially because of how widely they were shared across social media.

“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was: ‘Regina is a drug addict.’ I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict,” she said.

She added that the allegations forced her into deep self-reflection.

“I searched so hard it almost felt like I was going psychic… because surely, I must be missing something. That’s when it hit me. People often project their fears, insecurities, and negativity onto you. But projection is not reality, and noise is not truth,” she said.

In the caption of the video, Daniels said she decided to take the test for the sake of those who stood by her.

“After much reflection and a few very long conversations with myself, I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who love me and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters,” she wrote.

The actress also disclosed that she would take legal action against those responsible for spreading the allegations.

She clarified that the only substance she had ever been associated with was “Molly,” dismissing claims of hard drug use.

The controversy followed a public marital dispute involving her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, and his other wife, Laila Charani.

During the online fallout in late 2025, Charani accused Daniels of introducing her to drugs and alcohol years earlier. Nwoko later supported claims contained in a leaked medical report that allegedly showed Daniels tested positive for substances including cocaine and marijuana during a detox programme.

However, the hospital named in the report later denied issuing it, describing the document as unauthorised.
