Actress Rita Daniels Chukwuji, mother of Nollywood star Regina Daniels, has thrown her hat into the ring to contest for the presidency of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
She will face Abubakar Yakubu, the current national secretary of the guild, in the race to succeed Emeka Rollas, whose tenure ends in December 2025.
In her manifesto, Rita pledged to run a leadership that will protect, value, and empower members of the guild.
With close to two decades of experience in Nollywood, she has featured in several movies and mentored young actors.
“She will prioritize the welfare and growth of members, and create opportunities for them to thrive in the industry,” her manifesto read.
Rita’s bid comes after Yakubu declared his interest in February, promising to prioritize members’ welfare, better remuneration, and improved working conditions.
The election is scheduled to hold on December 6, with the National Electoral Committee set to oversee the process.
The outcome will determine who will lead the guild after Rollas’ tenure ends.
