Reece James: Aggrieved fans petition EPL to stop referee Taylor from officiating Chelsea games

Over 40,000 aggrieved Chelsea fans have petitioned the Premier League to stop referee Anthony Taylor from officiating against the European champions.

This comes after Recce James’ controversial sending off in the dramatic 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

James was adjudged to have deliberately handled the ball with his hand to prevent Sadio Mane’s goal-bound shot.

The ball deflected off James’ knee before he handle the ball, which the defender’s reaction suggested wasn’t intentional.

WuzupNigeria reported that Taylor was advised to approach the side-pitch monitor to review the incident by the VAR.

He red-carded James while at the same time, awarded trailing Liverpool a penalty.

GiveMeSport reports that Taylor has a history with the Blues fans regarding some decisions the have angered them and this seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back

The description reads: “It is evident that this man has a strong agenda against the institution that is Chelsea FC.

“For example, he has sent off players for no reason whatsoever and jeopardised our results.

“We strongly believe this should be investigated and Anthony should either be banned from officiating Chelsea games.”
