Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo at the weekend scored the 50th hat-trick of his career, extending an impressive LaLiga record over longstanding rival Lionel Messi.
The Portuguese scored four times in his side’s 6-3 goal bonanza over Girona on Sunday, taking his total tally for the current campaign to 37 goals.
Ronaldo has now scored an incredible 21 goals in his past 11 appearances across all competitions, and his hat-trick against Girona was the 50th of his career overall, for club and country.
The 33-year-old has now scored 34 hat-tricks in LaLiga, extending his own competition record over Messi, who has scored 27 trebles in Spain’s top flight.
Following Real’s 6-3 win and second-placed Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal, Los Blancos now sit just four points behind the Rojiblancos in the La Liga standings, while FC Barcelona moved 11 points clear at the top.
