Reconciliation still distant, Peter Okoye speaks on family rift

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has broken his silence on the prolonged family disagreement involving his twin brother, Paul Okoye, offering fresh insight into why tensions between them remain unresolved.

His remarks followed his recent decision to alter his birthday from the date he once shared with his twin.

In a firm and emotionally charged statement, Peter rejected renewed appeals for reconciliation, insisting that the situation is far more complicated than it appears publicly.

He accused those involved of long-standing betrayal and claimed he was subjected to misrepresentation by individuals he once regarded as close family.

“We were not ‘blood’ when they were stealing from me. We were not ‘blood’ when they were creating false narratives about me,” he said, stressing that revelations from events spanning more than twenty years have significantly reshaped his understanding of the conflict.

He further underscored that forgiveness does not automatically restore closeness, drawing a clear line on personal boundaries.

“Forgiveness doesn’t mean accessibility,” he added, while confirming that legal matters connected to the dispute are still active.

The rift between the twin brothers, who rose to fame as the celebrated music duo Psquare, has remained a subject of public attention for years. Known for their close partnership and string of hit songs, their relationship gradually deteriorated despite several attempts to reconcile.

Peter’s latest comments indicate that the chances of a reunion remain uncertain, as the disagreement continues to unfold both in the public eye and through legal channels.
