Speaking after this appointment, Allardyce told the FA’s official website, “I am extremely honoured to be appointed England manager especially as it is no secret that this is the role I have always wanted. For me, it is absolutely the best job in English football.”
The English FA confirmed Allardyce’s appointment on its Twitter handle with the below message:

Immediately after the announcement, many English football stars went on Twitter to congratulate the new coach. See some of the tweets:

Sam Allardyce is the new England manager. Wish him the very best. It’s not the impossible job it’s said to be, as I hope big Sam proves.

A statement released on Sunderland official website read:
“Sunderland AFC confirms the departure of Sam Allardyce, who takes up the position of England manager with immediate effect.
“The focus of everyone at Sunderland AFC now is on moving forward quickly and decisively, with the appointment of the club’s new manager to be confirmed at the earliest opportunity.”
The absence of a good luck message or in fact, any positive comment on Allardyce’s exit speaks volumes about the club’s opinion on Allardyce’s departure.
