Gunmen abducted Olugbenga a pastor with The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Olawore, along with other passengers from a 14-seater bus on the Lanlate-Eruwa Road in Oyo State on Friday night.
The pastor and other passengers were kidnapped at the Maya axis of the road while returning from Ipapo town, where Olawore had been finalizing burial arrangements for his mother.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the abduction on Saturday, assuring the public that efforts were underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the culprits.
“Some of the rescued victims are assisting with useful leads that can help the investigation. All routes around the area, including the adjoining forest areas, are being combed,” stated Osifeso.
He further emphasized, “Investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly.”
