Five top Manchester United players; Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony; have informed the club of their plans to leave before the new season begins.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, all five players made their intentions clear to the club, leading United to delay their return to pre-season training to allow time for transfer negotiations.

Romano wrote on Friday, “BREAKING: Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho have all informed Manchester United they wish to leave. Man Utd have delayed their return date until later in July to allow them time to explore solutions further.”

Manchester United, however, said the players would still be allowed to use the training grounds if they don’t secure new clubs in the coming weeks.

Rashford, who ended last season on loan at Aston Villa, has now lost his number 10 shirt to new £62.5m signing Matheus Cunha. This development is believed to have worsened the strained relationship between him and the club.

Jadon Sancho was close to joining Chelsea permanently, but talks reportedly collapsed over wage demands. Chelsea instead paid a £5m release fee to pull out of the £25m deal.

Garnacho is also on the move after being dropped in the final of the European Cup against Tottenham. Manager Ruben Amorim advised him to consider other options this summer.

Antony, who had a brief revival during a loan spell at Real Betis, could return to the Spanish side, who are reportedly ready to offer £30m for a permanent move.

Malacia, who struggled with injuries during his loan at PSV Eindhoven, has failed to land a permanent deal after the Dutch club refused to trigger the £8.3m fee.
