Rangers beat Heartland 2-0, reclaim top spot

Rangers defeated Heartland 2-0 in the Oriental derby at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday night to reclaim the top spot on the Nigeria Premier Football League table.

Kazeem Ogunleye and Kenneth Ogboke were the goal scorers for Rangers, who now have 13 points from seven games.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Shooting Stars thrashed Niger Tornadoes 4-1.

Ayobami Adekunle gave the home team the lead in the 17th minute, while Chidiebere Ernest equalised for Heartland 10 minutes before the break.

But Shooting Stars scored three unanswered goals in the second half through Samuel Bamidele, Gbologade Adelowo, and Kareem Ayinde to secure a comfortable victory.

In other results, Abia Warriors defeated Katsina United 2-1, Akwa United drew 0-0 with Plateau United, Bendel Insurance beat Remo Stars 1-0, Enyimba defeated Kwara United 1-0, Rivers United drew 1-1 with Sunshine Stars, and Gombe United lost 0-3 to Doma United.
