The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has said that several electrical poles and wires have been destroyed in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun after the heavy downpour on Sunday.
According to IBEDC spokesperson Busolami Tunwase, the heavy rainfall that lasted over an hour destroyed properties worth over N100 million, including vehicles.
Tunwase said no lives were lost in the incident, adding that the power distribution company swiftly deployed its technical team to the area to remedy the situation.
The spokesperson advised residents of the affected area to steer clear of electrical installations destroyed by the downpour for their safety.
She said, “We are appealing to the public to steer clear of every electrical pole, wire, and other electrical installation until we can clear everything off the road.”
