RACISM: FA investigate Millwall, Colchester fans for booing kneeling footballers

The English Football Association has announced that it has begun investigating the crowd-related incidents at involving fans booing players taking a knee on Saturday.

The incidents were recorded as fans returned to stadiums in small capacity over the seeking during Championship matches at Millwall and Colchester respectively.

Footballers in England, including the Premier League, have continued to take the knee before the start of every match in the campaign against racism following the rise in racial attacks on black people.

The FA’s statement read: “The FA can confirm that investigations are underway into crowd-related incidents at both The Den and JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday 5 December 2020.

“Observations have been sought from all of the relevant parties and they will have until Thursday 10 December 2020 to provide their respective responses.”

Millwall fans could be heard booing players before the start of their defeat to Derby County on Saturday at The Den and the club has since condemned the act.

Meanwhile, Colchester fans displayed similar traits during their Sky Bet League Two 2-1 victory over Grimsby on Saturday. Fans could be heard booing the players as they took the knee before kick-off.

Reacting, Colchester condemned the act and their owner, Robbie Cowling, warned that booing fans are not welcome at the club. [Sky Sports]
