A Nigerian couple, who welcomed their first babies after six years of barrenness, have opened up on the difficulty they’re facing over the upkeep of their set of quintuplets.

Mr. Ewanle and Mrs. Foyeke Omage’s barrenness ended after they delivered five babies at once on 18 January 2021 after getting married in 2014 and while the joy still remains with the family months after, the upkeep of the children requires attention as well.

Due to the nature of the delivery, Foyeke spent time in the hospital before delivery to avoid complication as advised by the consultant at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ayinke House Ikeja, on December 8, 2020.

As a result, the family reportedly spent all they saved and even went a-borrowing to offset the medical bills for the mother and children to leave the hospital on January 29th, Ewanle revealed, adding that his wife had to quit her marketing job before delivery.

Ewanle who is a level-eight civil servant at the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) is calling on the government and well-meaning Nigerians to come to their aid.

“We want to thank Nigerians for their assistance since my wife delivered. We are soliciting help from the federal and state government, NGOs, corporate bodies, religious leaders and well-meaning Nigerians to help us for the upkeep of our five babies. When we were two, it wasn’t easy, let alone now that we are seven,” he told The Guardian.
