After weeks of intense competition, 24-year-old Purp has been crowned winner of Nigerian Idol Season 10, becoming the first female to win the show since 2014.

Purp beat fellow finalist Raymu in the grand finale which aired live on Sunday. The show, hosted by IK Osakioduwa, was filled with powerful performances, celebrity appearances, and emotional moments.

Her win came after weeks of back-to-back performances and viewer votes. Purp received the highest number of votes to claim the crown.

“I’m really grateful and honoured for this,” she said, tearfully. “Thank you for your support. I love you guys so much. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Purp’s prize includes a brand-new SUV, a cash prize of ₦30 million, a DStv Explora with one-year premium subscription, and a music recording deal to kickstart her professional career.

The judges for this season—Omawumi, Ric Hassani, and Iyanya—were joined by guest judge 9ice during the finale. They praised both finalists for their growth and strong performances throughout the season.

“This is one of the most exciting seasons we’ve ever seen,” Omawumi said. “Both of you have made us proud.”

Season 10 started with online auditions for Nigerians aged 16 to 30. After months of screenings, the top 10 contestants battled it out on stage weekly, including Mikki, Ellacentric, Kristopher, Sally, Boss Lady, Brammy, Jkenova, and Lawrence.

But it was Purp who stood out week after week, winning hearts across the country.
