Music catalogues of the defunct P-Square group have recorded a resurgence on Nigeria’s Apple Music Albums Chart, as renewed public attention surrounds the latest war of words between the Okoye brothers.
According to music chart platform Album Talks HQ, the duo’s compilation album, Best of P-Square, climbed to number 100 on the Nigeria Apple Music Albums Chart, rising 87 places.
The platform also reported that Get Squared and Game Over re-entered the chart at number 173 and number 182, respectively.
The renewed interest in the group’s catalogue comes amid the lingering dispute between the P-Square duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, which has continued to generate reactions on social media, with fans revisiting some of their most popular works.
NAN reports that the brothers have been at odds for years, with Peter recently releasing a tell-all series accusing his brothers of buying mansions behind his back and attempting to stop him from performing P-Square’s songs.
P-Square rose to prominence in the early 2000s and became one of Africa’s biggest music groups, releasing timeless hits including ‘Bizzy Body’, ‘Do Me’, ‘Game Over’ and ‘Alingo’.
The group eventually split in 2017 over alleged financial disputes, creative control, and the role of their older brother and manager, Jude Okoye.
However, they briefly reunited in November 2021 before they split again in 2024 and went their separate ways to pursue solo careers, with Peter as Mr P and Paul as Rudeboy.
