PSC promotes 20 senior officers, others

The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of senior officers across various ranks in what it describes as a move to strengthen the leadership structure of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, confirmed the elevation of 20 Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspectors-General, 19 Deputy Commissioners to CPs, 13 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents and 14 Deputy Superintendents to SPs.

Among those promoted to AIG are Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Musa, Patrick Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Mobolaji, and Chukwudi Ariekpere. Others include Abubakar Aliyu, Olalolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Disu Olatunji, Alausa Tolani, Kareem Musa, Mohammed Dalijan, and Dan-Mamman Shawulu. Also on the list are Clement Robert, Musa Mohammed, Thomas Nabhoni, Abel Miri Zwalchir, and Ifeanyi Uka.

Similarly, DCPs who were promoted to CP include Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, and Ajo Ordue. Others in this category are Olufunke Adeayo, Stephen Ogedengbe, Iyabode Agbaminoja, Adebowale Lawal, Ojo Adekimi, and Yemi Oyeniyi, along with Obasi Okereke, Moses Ottah, Felix Nnebue, Gazali Abdul-Salaam, Fidelis Ogarabe, and Olubode Ojajuni.

Ani emphasized that the promotions followed due process, as all officers underwent rigorous assessments, including examinations and interactive interviews conducted by the commission.

The Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Argungu, presided over the promotion exercise, with other commission members actively involved in the process.

According to Ani, the promotions are part of the commission’s commitment to rewarding excellence and ensuring that competent officers take up leadership roles in the force.
