Hoodlums posing as protesters caused chaos in Kaduna State on Monday.

They vandalized a branch of a new generation bank in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.

The spokesman for the State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident. He told Channels Television, “The hoodlums broke into the bank, stole some valuables, and destroyed several vehicles parked at the bank.”

Hassan, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, also addressed rumors about a police armoured personnel carrier being taken. He said, “The driver of the armoured vehicle managed to navigate through the crowd. Since the vehicle was carrying live ammunition, the driver couldn’t use force against the crowd.”

The police also reported that hoodlums burned a security patrol vehicle belonging to the Kaduna State Vigilance Service in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area. Additionally, they set fire to the Zaria office of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency.

The Kaduna State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Kaduna and Zaria to control the situation and prevent further violence.
