The Spiritual Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has raised an alarm over what he described as a coordinated plan by terrorist groups to destabilise Northern Nigeria.
In a fresh prophetic warning, the cleric claimed that insurgent groups are allegedly planning to stage coups against serving state governors and forcibly remove traditional rulers from their positions.
Primate Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said the groups involved are not operating alone.
According to him, the alleged plot is being supported by local collaborators as well as international interests, with the objective of shutting down government houses across parts of the region.
He said the threat was imminent and called for an urgent restructuring of the existing security framework in the North to avert what he described as a major national embarrassment.
“Governors in the northern part must increase their security so that terrorists will not attempt a coup to remove a governor or shut down the government offices.
They can even vacate some Emirs from power in the north. They have local and international backup, and this must not be taken lightly. Let’s navigate solutions spiritually and technologically because this will trigger America’s annoyance,” the statement read.
The cleric further warned of an anticipated surge in violent activities allegedly being planned by bandits.
He identified ten states—Borno, Bauchi, Katsina, Niger, Adamawa, Zamfara, Ondo, Edo, Kaduna and Taraba—as potential flashpoints for major attacks within the next three months.
Primate Ayodele urged military and security agencies to remain on high alert, noting that the expected spike in violence between February and April could attract international intervention, particularly from the United States.
He also stressed the need to strengthen security around soft targets such as schools and markets to prevent large-scale casualties.
The cleric also commented on rising tensions in Anambra State following Governor Charles Soludo’s recent directive asking traders to disregard the long-standing Monday sit-at-home order.
While Ayodele acknowledged the governor’s intention to revitalise the state’s economy, he cautioned that the decision could have unintended consequences if not backed by a strong and visible security presence.
