The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently address Nigeria’s economic challenges, cautioning that delays could lead to public unrest and protests.
Ayodele emphasized that the economic situation is rapidly deteriorating and should be treated as a top priority to avert potential consequences.
In a statement relayed by his spokesman, Oluwatosin Osho, the clergyman warned Tinubu about the looming discontent, stating that hunger is prevalent, and salary earners find it increasingly challenging to sustain themselves. Ayodele urged the president not to wait until the public resorts to drastic measures, emphasizing the urgency of taking proactive steps to alleviate economic hardships.
“If Tinubu doesn’t get to work immediately and find a way to solve our economic issues, there will be massive protests. The people are crying already, salary earners are not satisfied, and it will get to a state where governors will not be able to pay salaries again,” Ayodele asserted, highlighting the potential repercussions of inaction.
“Don’t wait till they start stoning you and every politician before working, you need to do something now; there is serious hunger in the land. It will also affect some African nations. The president should do the needful,” he furthered.
He further urged Tinubu to focus on critical areas outlined during the release of his 2024 prophecies, emphasizing stable electricity, enhanced security measures, infrastructural development, agricultural growth, and employment creation as key priorities for the government.
Ayodele stressed the imperative for swift action to avert a deeper economic crisis and widespread public discontent.
