Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have received Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, global leaders of the Redeemed Christian Church of God from Nigeria, at State House in Entebbe.
Museveni noted that Christianity has contributed to the enrichment of Africa’s traditional cultures, particularly by promoting values such as love, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.
He pointed to the Christian principle of loving one’s neighbour, including showing love to people with opposing views, as well as the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan. According to the President, these teachings align with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) principle of placing shared interests above identity.
“These values have strengthened our heritage as a people,” Museveni said.
The President also welcomed Pastor Adeboye and the other visitors who travelled to Uganda for the consecration of his daughter, Patience, as a Bishop. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Maya.
