Reports that Ibrahim Magu, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been sacked, is preemptive.
This is according to a series of tweets by Garba Shehu, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, describing the reports as being speculative and preemptive since there was no such report to the presidency by the Attorney General of the Federation.
1. We are reading reports that the @officialEFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu has been sacked.

2. No report has been made available to the Presidency by the Attorney General of the federation over the matter.

3. The report of his sack is therefore speculative and preemptive.

Nigerians have also taken to the social media to express their feelings about the reported removal of the EFCC boss as some of them hailed President Buhari for ensuring Magu was sent packing.

1. Ibrahim Magu is actually corrupt or
2. The Cabals have powered the President.— Mr. El-Bonga™ (@el_bonga) December 31, 2016
On what ground was the acting @officialEFCC boss Magu removed? Was he guilty of the allegations? Or was he removed to please the @NGRSenate?

Why are they treating Magu like a pedophile Catholic priest? If he is guilty, why redeploy him? Why not sack and charge him? Fishy…
